Do I need a fishing License to fish in the surf of the Atlantic ocean?

Posted by Lauren Yanez on Apr 11, 2010

I know I need to have a license to fish saltwater, but is surf fishing different?

In Florida if you are saltwater fishing from land or a peir or structure afixed to land you do not need a License.

Psst, you’re right I forgot to mention that

hey man, it all depends on the state that you are in. in some states you need a license to fish surf only if you are a nonresident of the state and there are other states that no one has to have license to fish the surf and there are others that you have to have a license no matter where you are fishing and no matter who you are. it all depends on the state. if i was you i would look up your states local department of natural resources and they should have a website with all you need to know. here in georgia everyone needs a license. surf fishin or not. i hope that helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

Psst, Brandon, that’s only if you’re a resident. Wadefishing salt or brackish water out to four feet deep or from a structure permanently affixed to shore
