What is a tuna fish sandwich recipe that barely has the actual tuna fish taste?

Posted by Lauren Yanez on Jul 31, 2010

I don’t like fish, but have had tuna fish sandwiches before that didn’t taste too fishy. Also, the less ingredients the better. Thanks!

The type of tuna will dictate the amount of "fishy" taste. Canned tuna has a more fisy taste than does the tuna in the pouch. StarKist makes an Albacore tuna in the pouch which has the least fishy taste of all.

You can even rinse the tuna after you remove it from the pouch for extra freshness.

To make a tasty tuna salad, add finely chopped celery and gherkin pickles to the mayo and tuna. Also chopped hard boiled egg is a good addition.

Make the sandwich with fresh, soft white bread and don’t forget the lettuce, it’ll help distract from the tuna taste, too.

Here is my own recipe:

1 pouch tuna
3 tablespoons mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip or other salad dressing)
1 stalk celery, finely diced
1 hard boiled egg, chopped
2 gherkins, chopped
Mix all in a small bowl.

If you feel like getting "fancy" put the tuna salad into a hollowed out tomato instead of on bread, or use pita bread, or roll the tuna salad up in a soft tortilla. Maybe using different serving methods would help ease the tuna taste into your tummy.

purchasing a boat for lake and saltwater fishing, what is important to know about the motor etc?

Posted by Lauren Yanez on Jul 31, 2010

We will be purchasing a used boat to use for lakes and saltwater. How do you prepare a boat for saltwater ? What do we need to look for as far as the motor etc.? We know we will need to buy a V hull for ocean, but we don’t know much else. Any advice would be greatly helpful. We have never owned a boat before. we have however rented several times in florida. THANKS IN ADVANCE !

O.K. you have lots of advice regarding flushing your motor every time you use it in salt water, unless you plan to buy a boat more than ten years old or older, this is not necessary!!! Buy a boat with a good name, wash it after use in fresh/salt water, keep up with maintenance, and check your zincs often. Use only fresh and salt water zincs. if you plan to keep the boat in the salt water for more than one week you should consider painting the bottom. You do not need to anything else… Have fun!!! ( merc. motors recommends you flush your motor once per year, regardless salt or not!)

I like tuna fish but want to eat it in a healthier way but not by itself. How can i replace mayo?

Posted by Lauren Yanez on Jul 27, 2010

I do not like raw fish. I like mixing tuna with mayo but i want a healthier alternative.

Instead of mayo for chicken and tuna I use a good honey mustard (not dijon-too strong). Don’t use as much mustard as you would mayo. Makes a great taste..:)
